My experience with a Vertigo patient En Man |
Vertigo is a condition whereby you or the environment around you, is moving or spinning. This feeling may be barely noticeable, or it may be so severe that you find it difficult to keep your balance and do everyday tasks. Some of the symptoms include loss of balance and dizziness.
This particular patient of mine (En Man) has got the above symptoms for 2 years now. He is in his late 60s and he needs assistance everywhere he go as he cannot keep his balance. He told me that he has tried a lot of treatment and already given up home of recovering. He jokingly told me that it was her daughter who forced him to come and visit us after she was recommended by a friend.
During this first visit, he first hand experienced acupuncture to his scalp, legs and hands. As it was his first time, En Man was rather nervous. However, after the acupuncture session, he told us that it was a pleasant experience. He was given 7 days of herbs and we briefed his wife on the method of boiling the herbs. Yes, we prescribe boiling herbs at our medical centre because we believe it is the most effective. Furthermore, I personally believe that patients are more confident about the treatment if they know what they are taking. En Man was told to return for follow-up consultation 7 days later.
On his next visit, he looked joyful and full of confidence. He no longer needs assistance when he is walking. During consultation, he told us that he don’t feel that dizzy anymore. But once a while, he still feel dizzy but the number of occurrence has reduced tremendously. Once again, he went for his acupuncture, this time calmer if compared to previous time.
That was the last time I saw him as he did not turn up for his next appointment. I have decided to give him a call to know what was happening since he did not turn up. He told me that he think that he has recovered. He told me that it has been 2 days since he had his last episode of dizziness. He thanked us for helping him and will definitely recommend his friends to visit us if they have health problems. |
